About me
I transform programs, processes, partnerships and events to be more efficient and more impactful. I especially enjoy jumping into something in which I’ve had no prior experience and I truly love to learn. I’m excited to continue building my skills in areas such as program & operations management, people & culture, partnerships, events and process improvement.
To provide more context about my journey, I started my career at a mid-size consulting firm, Protiviti, that focused on internal audit and risk management. Although it was fascinating learning about clients in the entertainment, financial services and health sciences industries, I quickly realized I didn’t want to spend my career auditing other people’s work; I wanted to do the work myself.
I decided to transition my career to a hands-on program management role at the Advertising Educational Foundation (AEF), a nonprofit that connects students to the marketing & advertising industry. This opportunity enabled me to lead a variety of exciting programs, and support students at a critical point in their careers. I loved the idea of supporting young, diverse talent and connecting them with their dream jobs.
I’d been with the AEF through several promotions and an acquisition by the Association of National Advertisers. I have built programs from the ground up, recruited & supported thousands of students in their career journeys, planned hundreds of speaking engagements for industry leaders on college campuses and produced several large-scale events including regional marketing conferences and a virtual event that raised over $280k.
Most recently, I joined Amazon Web Services as a Program Manager. I supported the Talent Acquisition Ops team, ensuring the right people were in the right place to support a high growth business. In 9 months, I sourced, hired and onboarded 300+ new teammates (full time employees and contractors) to the Talent Acquisition org and created a roadmap for a centralized hiring function across the org. I’m very excited about the impact I had in such a short amount of time!
In my free time, I enjoy researching and traveling to low-key, less traveled places and love checking out architecture and points of historical interest. I also love eating unusual food and discovering new restaurants and regional specialties. And no trip is complete without a stop at a local book store, record store and an antique shop or two.
I currently live in Sunnyside, Queens - the absolute best borough in NYC. Reach out to me at sjparrish@gmail.com, and I’ll tell you why!
